Both the 1/8/21 BLS Employment Situation Report and the 1/7/21 weekly DOL Unemployment Insurance Report indicate a stalled recovery from the Covid recession.

The non-seasonal adjusted initial claims totaled 922,072 in the week ending an increase of 77,400 from the previous week,  the fifth running week of over 800,000. This makes up 0.63% of the Covered Employment. The 50 year long term average (January 1971 to today) is 0.38% and the average of the last business cycle (July 2009 to March 2020) is 0.24%

The non-seasonal adjusted continuous insured unemployment insured unemployment in state programs totaled 5,382,459, an increase of 145,444 from the preceding week.

Also, total number of people claiming benefits in all programs for the week ending December 19 was 19,176,857 a decrease of 419,228 from the previous week.
